Traditionally bathrooms have contained a bath or a bath/shower combination, but there may come a time when you may prefer to install a ‘walk-in shower room’ instead.
Maybe you find it difficult to get into your bath if you have bad knees or other mobility issues? Perhaps you have a busy lifestyle where a quick shower is preferable to a long soak in a bath? You might like a small shower room as an ensuite to your master bedroom?
A walk in shower can help you with these situations, and in small spaces a glass screen will create an illusion of space too. Unless you have a family sized house with only one bathroom, fitting walk-in shower rooms or wet rooms are now very popular options.
Recently we had customers who wanted to transform their dated traditional bathroom suite with a walk in shower room and lavatory / sink combination unit. The customers visited our bathroom showroom in Exmouth for shower room ideas, to look for examples of shower room suites and advice on what would suit their needs, space and budget.
How the bathroom was before the work started
After a free home survey to check sizes and compatibility of the products the customers had chosen and fittings and materials had been ordered and delivered, we were ready to start the project.
After everything in the bathroom had been removed, new pipe work and electrics were installed. Next, the shower room walls and floor were prepared for the new tiles and flooring.
Images taken during the conversion to a shower room
A 1600mm x 700mm shower tray was installed where the bath used to be before the walls were tiled with Waxman Varana Gris and Deco tiles and the floor with Aquastep flooring in Breton Cire.
A Mira Coda two head shower was fitted and the shower enclosure was completed with a 900m x 300m wet room shower screen.
The shower cubicle was finished with a Roper Rhodes corner basket for storage of toiletries at a convenient height.
The toilet and basin unit is from Tavistock Bathrooms, the towel radiator from Ideal Bathroom’s Essentials Range and the Realm mirror from Tavistock Bathrooms.
