Why it is important to get your gas boiler serviced annually
If your boiler seems to be working as it should then you may wonder if you need to get it serviced every year. However just like any major appliance, your boiler needs to be cared for and checked on a regular basis to make sure that it is running safely and that it is as efficient as it should be.
What we do when we carry out a boiler service in Devon
It’s always good to know what it is that is done when you have a gas engineer come to your home to service your boiler.
Here is a list of the main aspects of what we do, and what you can expect.
We service and install the most popular and top brands of gas boilers
With such extensive experience over many years we have serviced many different brands of gas boilers. In particular we service all of the brands that we sell and install, listed below, but please do get in touch if you don’t see your boiler below as often we will still be able to help. As well as servicing gas boilers we have gas boiler fitters ready to assist with your installation, as well as a range of boilers in our showroom, should you want to come in for a friendly chat, and to look in more detail at the most recent and popular boiler options.
Worcester Bosch Boilers
Originally founded in 1962 Worcester became part of the Worcester Bosch group over 35 years later and is now one of the market leaders in domestic boilers, and is one of the boiler brands that we regularly service.
Initially formed in 1906 Ideal Heating remains strong over one hundred years later providing the domestic and commercial market with boilers.
Arguably Europe’s leading heating appliance manufacturer, and as leader in it’s home country (Italy), Alpha has produced over 7 million boilers.
Vaillant dates back many many years(!) to being founded in 1874 in Remscheid, Germany by Johan Vaillant. It is still a 100% family owned company today and we often come across Vaillant boilers when we are servicing locally here in Devon.
Baxi Boilers can also be traced back many years (to 1866) and was started by Richard Baxendale, and iron founder, who began the Baxendale Company, now known as Baxi.
How a boiler service in Devon saves you money
A gas boiler service will cost £95 and while that is another household expense to take into consideration, the work done when servicing your boiler will save you money (not to mention helping the environment) as it will make your boiler run more efficiently.
Cleaning all parts of the boiler that can get blocked with residues and checking the components are running correctly allows your gas boiler to run more efficiently and that saves you money. Having a regular annual service also give your boiler a longer lifespan, and having to replace a boiler is no small investment.
How a gas boiler service makes your home safer
When we carry out our boiler service in Devon we always check for possible problems and when we do encounter them they are often related to leaks of some variety or another. A leaking gas boiler can be a really big problem. Often we may associate leaking gas with an explosion – and of course that is something to be avoided(!) but the more worrying leak is often undetected by smell and may not ignite, however gas leaks or carbon monoxide leaks can cause serious health repercussions and can cause fatalities.
An annual boiler service will check that there are no current or potential issues with leakages, also it will check that all components are working as they should do, that valves are adjusted appropriately, flues are unobstructed, all major gas boiler components are working and any part that needs cleaning is cleaned. This leaves your boiler safe.
