There will come a time when you’ll see signs you need a new boiler – and you will have to replace it, either because it is completely irreparable, keeps breaking down, or is no longer as efficient as it once was.

We first published this blog post in August last year – and many of our customers found it helpful so we’ve slightly updated it and are republishing it here, for you to hopefully find interesting and good timing as the weather becomes much more Autumnal!

But what are the replacement boiler warning signs? How do you know when you should keep having it repaired, or when it’s time to get your boiler replaced? Below we give four signs that your boiler needs to be replaced: –

1. Your Boiler Is Making Strange Noises

If you notice that your boiler is making noises that you do not recognise, then it could be struggling. Noises like whistling, knocking, popping and hissing are signs of potential uneven water distribution, or air bubbles forming in the pipes.

2. You Are Frequently Having To Adjust The Thermostat

A boiler that is working correctly will keep the temperature you have chosen constant for the time the boiler is on. If you notice that you have to adjust the thermostat to keep the temperature where you want it, then this could be a sign of a boiler that is malfunctioning.

3. Water Is Leaking From Your Boiler

Water leaking from your boiler is a noticeable sign that all is not well. Look for leaks and scaling around the pipes in the boiler. Some leakage is normal over the lifetime of your boiler, but if it occurs quite often and the amount of leak is greater, then it is probably time for a new boiler.

4. You Are Having To Have Frequent Repairs Carried Out On Your Boiler

All boilers need to be repaired occasionally, but no boiler will go on forever! Frequent repairs will be a sign that your boiler is ageing and there will come it time when it is not worth the cost of a big repair.

Choosing a New Boiler from our Gas Boiler Showroom
Choosing the right gas boiler is as important as any of the decisions you make about your home – making sure it is adequate enough for the size of house you have, that it is appropriate for your needs and for your energy supply are some of the questions that you will need to consider.

You may also have a preference for a particular brand (we only stock the very best!), or you may not be very familiar with the different gas boiler brands available – all of these questions we can answer here in our showroom in Devon.

If you visit our showroom you can see a range of boilers ready and installed and can compare the various alternatives available to you. We can discuss these options and help you to choose the right boiler that suits your water and heating needs.

As well as displaying and selling gas boilers from our showroom we have a team of boiler installers ready to assist with fitting your new boiler – so all you need to do is choose what you want, and we will help you with everything else.
